Embedded for Impact:

A 20-Year Strategic Partnership in Colombia

Over two decades, TRG helped Colombia strengthen government coordination and public trust during a critical period of transformation. By embedding with key institutions, TRG supported the country’s shift toward stability and democratic resilience.

The Challenge:

At the dawn of the 21st century, Colombia stood at a critical crossroads. Decades of insurgency, narco-violence, and institutional fragmentation had eroded public trust and strained relations with international partners. While bold new frameworks for cooperation emerged at the policy level, success on the ground demanded more than strategy documents or security assistance.

To achieve durable results, Colombia needed a partner that could help bridge divides—between ministries, between civil and military institutions, and between Bogotá and Washington. It required sustained, behind-the-scenes coordination, cultural fluency, and above all, trust earned over time.

Our Role:

The Rendon Group (TRG) deployed a field team to Colombia at a moment of both uncertainty and opportunity. Our role began with discrete tactical support but quickly evolved into a long-term strategic partnership embedded within the Colombian government.

TRG worked shoulder to shoulder with Colombia’s Ministry of Defense and other key institutions, helping to align civilian and military operations, foster interagency coordination, and ensure consistency between policy goals and public messaging.

As relationships deepened, so did the impact. TRG supported the design of integrated communications frameworks that elevated national narratives—reinforcing legitimacy, resilience, and shared purpose. We became a trusted conduit between actors often siloed from one another, enabling smoother collaboration across sectors and levels of government.

The Outcome:

Over the course of 20 years and six presidential administrations, TRG’s embedded partnership helped shift the country’s trajectory—from a fragile security state to a more stable, confident, and cohesive democracy, firmly in the hands of the Colombian people and its government.

Our work strengthened national capacity, reinforced interagency trust, and helped the government communicate with clarity during moments of transition and reform. What began as a tactical engagement became a foundational component of long-term stability—proof that with the right presence, persistence, and perspective, strategic communications can become an instrument of national transformation.
